If
you have read
the
earlier pages you hardly can´t have missed my interest in Science
Fiction, drawing, painting and so on.
I am glad over
that my interest merges with I have and want work with, that is computers
and graphics. Because my interest in drawing and painting
with computers I haven't lost my "touch" which easily can
happen if you don´t use computers and programs needed on daily
basis. Thanks to that I have fairly easy to learn how to use and work
with new programs. I am really one of those lucky people who have the
luxury work with they at the same time call a hobby.
About
Science Fiction
could
I write a lot, but I think it´s better save you from it. What
I really like to tell if you are not... well... initiated, are why I
think Sci Fi are so fascinating.
I have a true conviction that everything we humans can imagine or fantasize
about we will realize sooner or later.
From the ideas in Sci Fi have we seen
some things to be realized in both good and bad.
Some writers have been criticized by their contemporaries and a few
decades later have the final results and reality some time even exceeded
the fantasizes.
One Sci Fi writer we all now was Jules
Verne, he wrote about moon travels, TV, nuclear power, submarines
and much more before we even had branded stories like his as Science
Fiction. Even dough he did not have right all the time, the ideas
was there and take a look around, what he wrote is now our reality.
Today when we
read books or watch
films about gene
manipulation, space
travels in light speeds, teleportations,
nano technology,
3D-television, time travels and much, much more what we now see as imagination,
technical or physical impossibilities, will some of this certainly be
reality sooner or later.
Some times reality will catch up, and then we have Sci Fi writers to
thank for their clear-sightedness, for ideas or warnings about the consequences.
And if my explanation is not enough to make you interested, are Science
Fiction really exciting reading, try and you will see.
In later years I
had possibility and have been entrusted to create illustrations on nonprofit
base to UFO-Aktuellt, Nationwide organization UFO-Sweden´s magazine.
They have find use for my pictures in a CD-ROM production, posters and
a illustration to the book Mötet i gläntan by
chairman, journalist and author Clas Svahn.
In the book he write about Pollen
King Gösta Carlsson´s experiences in 1946 in very
objective and interesting way.
Just this objective and rational approach is characteristic for UFO-Sweden´s
way to work in a area which are difficult and elusive to us all.
Not to mention the ridicule which many of witnesses or interested in
the topic can be subjected to. -Do you believe in UFO´s?
is a question I have heard many times and my answer has been and are
-Of course, but so do you too.
As a common person it´s easy to think about UFO´s
in connection with green
Martians or in other stereotype forms, and it´s no wonder.
In this area there are and has been persons who don´t hesitate
to use this for their own purposes if it is economical or more or less
in cult kind of activity.
I choose to be interested in the UFO area in what the shortening stands
for and that is Unidentified Flying Objects.
In another words UFO can mean gulls,
airplanes,
satellites
or anything between earth and heaven which can´t be recognized
in that moment. That's why we can say that everybody have seen UFO at
least ones.
When you have sift out every natural explanation so far it´s possible,
will usually couple percentage of cases remain, which no normal explanation
can´t be found. This don´t still mean alien crafts from
another planet and the observation will be registered as unexplained.
However the opposite have not either been proved, so fare the observations
are unexplained they can be secret
airplanes, natural or mental phenomena we don´t yet recognize,
or why not, aliens in crafts from another planet who are visiting us.
So without rejection or denial are UFO-Sweden working so objectively
with this intangible topic as possible and resources allows.
Many people ask
me, if I believe in life on another planets. What´s there not
to believe? Universe
is a big place and odds tells us that there must be plenty of life out
there.
But life mean also bacteria, algae's and not just intelligent beings.
If we have this in mind, so is there much which seems to indicate life
on the planets in our own Solar
system.
Mars
and Jupiter´s
moon Europe
has became strong candidates after findings what are believed to be
fossilize remains of bacteria in a meteorite
from Mars.
If we find life in the Solar system, no matter how primitive it is,
increases possibilities to intelligent life in the rest of our galaxy
or in the Universe.
Then we can start to ask the question of what kind of life it is, instead
if there are life.
The space research
have
regain speed again after been running little on idle after the Moon
program was canceled and Challenger
catastrophe happened.
Sometimes we hear, that there are more important things put money in
than send a radio controlled car to Mars. It´s better we take
those resources to cure world famine or other problems we have.
Mine wholly personally view is that space research should be given even
more priority with medicine, physics and so on.
Where can we take the money for that? Well, equally naive answer are
all the billions we spend on new ways to kill each other.
Should all this resources as money, technology, Scientists be accessible
would we be in whole different situation. Naive, but partly true.
It´s partly thanks to
spin-off
technology from the space program we have microchips, therefore computers
and everything that need microchips to function. Today it´s easier
count things which don´t need microchips.
Everything from microwave ovens, digital watches, radio and TV communications,
new alloys, textiles and much, much more we use in our daily life are
results from the space program.
Should we put even more efforts on space research can we expect new
alloys and medicines which only can be made in zero gravity.
Further in the future maybe we begin mining on the moon or even on the
asteroid belt instead here on the earth. But like I said, that´s
wholly mine personally
view.
What more? Cars
and motor-sport, I haven´t missed many episodes of Trafikmagasinet
and channel 5:s
Motorjournalen in later years, I also try to follows BBC World´s
Top Gear
when I can. Lately has Formula
1 racing which always have been exiting, become even more fun to
follow.
I also try to follow the development in technology as much I can through
popular Science programs and magazines. Generally I try be some what
informed what are happening in the world around me and to have access
to Internet are almost a must. Possibility to get information about
events in the same second they happen and be able to participate when
you have a opportunity are excellent.
A good example was Mars
Pathfinder Mission. The information was sheared by millions of people
around the world almost in the same instant when NASA
got it and still are we in the beginning of Internet development.
Changes happens fast and how Internet looks and works five years from
today can we only guess. But to be participated almost from the beginning
is to me almost a privilege. It´s exiting times we are living
in.
But now I think it´s
enough. If you have been reading this far wish I thank you for your
interest and I hope you get interchange from this homepages.
With best regards
Kari
